Our dreams and visual memories are quite unlike still or moving images captured by a camera even as we often use those images as source material.

Our mind’s eye envisions fragments and traces of images that overlay one another, shaped, reshaped, accentuated and even distorted by our emotional and visceral responses.

During this retreat, we will immerse ourselves in Mulranny’s spectacular wild Atlantic coastal landscape, exploring ways to tap into our vast internal reservoirs of fleeting visual memories—memories of people, places and things—and then express our responses to those ephemeral images as we work with wax media on paper and panels.

About Regina’s Works

Rooted in my deep connection to the natural world, my encaustic paintings are an expression of my love and sense of stewardship for the fragile balance that allows life to thrive on this planet.

My works are primarily abstracted landscapes suspended at the edges of day between darkness and light.

Even as the darkness enshrouds, physically and metaphorically, it is pierced by glimmers of light—often unexpected light. That piercing of the darkness is what drives me to create my paintings.
