Courage Unseen by Jenny Grant.jpg

Join Jenny for a magical week of mixed media art, connection, and inspiration on the west coast of Ireland.

We’ll gather in a cozy retreat space surrounded by green hills, wild coastline, and the beauty of Ireland.

In our private studio, Jenny will guide you step-by-step through expressive mixed media projects using collage, acrylics, inks, and playful mark-making. Throughout the week, we’ll create several finished pieces on canvas and paper, exploring grungy layers and personal expression.

Jenny will create one of her signature expressive faces, sharing her favorite techniques and step-by-step processes so you can create your own expressive art. Through simple prompts, we’ll practice releasing self-criticism and breaking free from the need for perfection.

You’ll learn how to create bold, ‘grungy’ textures and discover how letting go of attachment can lead to your most authentic art.

We will also create our own art journal, in a very simple process. The journal will be a very special creative companion for the retreat. We’ll take it with us on small adventures—to sketch, collage, or simply capture inspiration on the go.

This retreat is not about perfection — it’s about showing up, letting go, and enjoying the creative process.

Everything will be taught step-by-step, with lots of room for 1-on-1 help from Jenny and plenty of time for your own style to shine.

Come as you are—whether you’re new to art or have been creating for years. This week is just for you.

Let’s create, connect, and celebrate the beauty of art and life in Ireland!

About Jenny

My name is Jenny and I am a Mixed Media Artist. My mission is to inspire other to find their creative spark. I provide ideas, inspiration and guidance for anyone that would like to find their spark.

I love painting big and I paint in many layers and create my art based on an interesting process where my imagery emerges while painting. I work with mixed media - acrylic paint, ink, oil pastels, color pencils, fabrics, paper, photos... anything that comes my way.

My work is very rich with many layers that add depth and texture to my work.  There are no limits, nothing is wrong and there are no mistakes. The process is the fun! My paintings evolve as I paint. With layers on layer I create depth, texture and details. Being creative allows me to explore myself, to let go and it helps me to be here and now.

When I start a blank canvas I very seldom have a picture in my mind. I start with adding paper collage; I write words and poetry that pop into my mind, onto the canvas. These layers and words inspire me through the process. I add each layer based on my feeling at that moment. I am big advocate of Jackson Browns sayings “Don’t wait for inspiration - it will find you”.

Art Journaling is one of my big passions. I create my Art Journals out of all the left over from my big paintings. Paint and scrap paper is used to create junk books that I carry with me wherever I go. I use them as my notebooks and I keep one in my bag at all times. I paint and doodle in them as soon as I have nothing else to do; on the plane, in the restaurant and at home when the kids do their homework.

I love my art journals, they are part of my soul. For me art journaling is a resting place where I give my self time to recover. My art journaling process is totally free from requirements, rules, results or obligations. For me it is a way for my creative soul to be totally free and a way to find the unique creative source within myself. Art Journaling is an important part of my creative process and it also allows me to relax, to let go and to find my flow. When working in my art journal I feel safe. For me art journaling opens up the magic of what is unique within me.
