Crystal Marie

I am an artist, author, and speaker, working primarily in the art of collage and mixed media. Collage is my first love. My passion. My absolute purpose in life is connected to this art medium. Regardless of the technique I am working in, paper always seems to make an appearance.

I thoroughly believe that collage and mixed media are the perfect mediums for representing the fractured and fragmented bits of our lives, brought together to form a beautiful and complete picture in a way that allows us to share our stories, either in overt representational work or with subtle abstract design.

My process is intuitive. I come to the table with an open mind and an open heart. Aside from the technical decision-making required to get me started, I’ve learned that my best work comes when I get out of my own way and allow the work to tell me what it wants to be.

It sounds a little obscure and mysterious, but what it all boils down to is giving yourself permission to follow your own creative curiosity to discover that everything you really need to know about creating a great composition is already there inside of you.

Found Object Encaustic Sculpture

This workshop will guide you through creating beautiful, sculptural art, from everyday objects, through my unique process of painting on glass, metal, and other substrates with encaustic wax

 Working through the techniques presented in this course the finished project is sure to turn heads when you share its humble beginnings.

Techniques will include how to properly adhere encaustic wax to alternative supports, painting on 3D surfaces, and attaching objects to complete your design.
